Research shows rise in commercial property and shop cover, and fall in leisure-related products

SME brokers have seen rising demand for professional risks insurance in the past year but a dip in leisure business, exclusive Insurance Times research shows.

The survey, published in this week’s special report on SME broking, shows business volumes have risen over the past 12 months for professional indemnity and directors’ and officers’ products.

It also shows increased appetite for commercial property and shop cover among brokers.

But reflecting the wider downturn in leisure, the survey of brokers working with SMEs shows volumes are down in cafés and restaurants, pubs and hotels. It also shows the economic climate is the key concern for brokers in the SME sector.
