Motor premiums are 23% higher in the north-west than in London, according to a survey by Tesco Motor Insurance.
The survey revealed that drivers in the north west pay an average yearly premium of £535.39 compared to the survey average of £437.67.
Head of insurance operations at Tesco Motor Insurance, Simon Blacklock said: "With massive gulfs between the premiums on offer - this is definitely a driver's market. People waste hundreds of pounds if they don't shop around for the best deal."
The survey also revealed vast differences between premiums offered by different insurers. Premiums varied by up to £393 in the north west region.
