Swiss Re's flagship building at 30 St Mary Axe is more of an albatross than a gherkin, if recent reports are to be believed.

The reinsurance giant is apparently losing £35,000 a day in rental income from its iconic tower, affectionately dubbed the 'erotic gherkin' owing to its shape.

Swiss Re has been looking to let 269,182sqft of surplus space since the spring. But there has been little interest to date.

It would seem that, despite its 'erotic' shape, City firms are not particularly turned on by the prospect of moving into the gherkin.
