Swiss Re has cut as many as 2,000 jobs in order to save labour costs following the purchase of General Electric's reinsurance business.
The number of job cuts is 300 more than previously announced in January, when the company said the purchase of Kansas City-based GE Insurance Solutions would result in the loss of as many as 1,700 jobs.
According to sources, the reductions, which equal to 17% of the 11,500 people it employs, will affect offices globally, including London.
