Lloyd's Syndicate 1183, managed by Talbot Underwriting, has taken up the contingency account previously written by GoshawK Syndicate 102, as well as the underwriting team for the account.
Talbot said it had received franchise approval from Lloyd's for the deal.
Underwriter Danny Burns and assistant underwriter Susan House said they expected to generate £10m of premium income for the 2004 year of account.
"The specialist focus is on the popular entertainment industry as well as sports and leisure activities," said Burns, "and cancellation and non-appearance will represent our main channels of business."
Talbot said it would write a worldwide account, with a $10m maximum for any one risk. It said roughly 65% of the account was expected to be written on a facultative basis, virtually all of it direct, with the remainder under binders and lineslips.
