Lloyd's managing agent Talbot Underwriting has appointed Gilles Bonvarlet to chief operating officer (COO).
Bonvarlet was formerly managing director of XL London Market Ltd, where he was employed for 10 years. He will take up his position as COO at Talbot in early November this year.
The insurer said chief executive Michael Carpenter will remain responsible for the overall management of the company including relationships with regulators, capital providers and other key stakeholders. Reporting to him, Rupert Atkin continues to be responsible for all underwriting, and Bonvarlet will have responsibility for all operations.
