Team Aon have appealed for clearer rules at the Insurance Times Regatta as they clashed with race officials.
Aon were firmly in the lead after the first ten minutes of yesterday's first race.
However they were quickly called back by marshals for starting ahead of the race line.
Crewmember Angus Millgate said: "There was no way we were over the line. In fact there were other teams who were ahead of us!
"It was very frustrating because we got ourselves out of the main pack and into clear water. We may not have won the race anyway but we would have finished a lot better than we did."
He added that he wanted the rule to be firmly applied in Wednesday's races.
A spokesman for race organiser SetSail said that Aon had to be recalled under race rules.
He said: "Race starts are always tricky and we do our best to be fair to all competitors."
