Tesco insurance lines contribute to record profit

Tesco Personal Finance's (TPF) insurance lines helped to boost the supermarket giant's profits to a record £2bn.

TPF profit increased 26% to £202m from £160m a year earlier. Of that, it said, it had 1.4 million motor insurance accounts and 1.7 million credit card accounts, up 700,000 from 2003.
