Tesco Personal Finance, the financial arm of the Tesco supermarket chain, has urged British travellers on skiing holidays to make sure they have adequate insurance before taking to the slopes.

The company said its research showed that the cost of medical care in most ski resorts had risen by nearly 50% in the last three years.

This meant even the most minor injuries could result in major costs, it said.

Tesco Personal Finance head of insurance Paul Baxter said: "It can cost well over £4,000 to be taken by air back to the UK following an accident, money that many people simply do not have."

Baxter added that holidaymakers should also ensure that they have cover for third party liability as well as personal injury.

The 2025 Insurance Times Awards took place on the evening of Wednesday 3rd December in the iconic Great Room of London’s Grosvenor House.

Hosted by comedian and actor Tom Allen, 34 Gold, 23 Silver and 22 Bronze awards were handed out across an amazing 34 categories recognising brilliance and innovation right across the breadth of UK general insurance.
Many congratulations to all the worthy winners and as always, huge thanks to our sponsors for their support and our judges for their expertise.
