Here are 20 questions to check on your knowledge of motor insurance, compiled by Waltham Pitglow

To download a PDF of this article as it appears in the magazine click here .This week the CPD page MOT asks what might seem some very straightforward questions about motor insurance. Or are they so straightforward? There are no trick questions, but these questions are designed for those who perhaps are not dealing with motor insurance all the time but still get involved from time to time. The first few questions are what I term "well fancy that" type questions, which in themselves do not add much to competence but can make for an interesting discussion. The others are little snippets from a wide variety of areas of the subject.

CII learning forumHot off the press, I attended the CII Learning and Development Forum this week. A sell-out audience of 160 saw key industry specialists sharing opinions on the subject of competences of 'approved persons' and I was particularly delighted to speak to a number of delegates who had managed to book places by flashing their 'I'm an Insurance Times CPD page reader' badges.Book now for December by emailing tracy.wood@cii.co.uk and remember that this is a not-for-profit CPD event and includes a Christmas lunch with mulled wine and mince pies. This event covers whistle-blowing and other issues relating to ethics and conflicts that you will need to manage under FSA regulation. Finally, a hot topic always is what does and does not constitute CPD. A number of firms in the insurance community support society by encouraging staff to spend time helping people who are less able through charities that they support rather than just giving money. Does this constitute CPD activity. What do you think? We would welcome your views. Email ruylopezuk@btopenworld.com
