Brokers should go electronic or risk losing thousands of pounds if commission cheques are delayed in the threatened postal strike, warned intermediary network CETA.

CETA fears the possible strike could also cause problems for customers awaiting confirmation of cover.

David Quick managing director of CETA said: "Brokers should not be worried if they have not used electronic systems before.

"For example, our internet based system has been designed to be simple and efifcient to use and there is a dedicated telephone helpline to help brokers if they have any problems."
