Royal & Sunalliance's (R&SA) has cut more than 75% of staff at its Maidstone and Southampton offices.

The insurer has cut its staff from 105 to 30 since moving into its new Colemore House office in the town last month.

In May, R&SA announced it would axe personal lines staff when it closed its Southampton office and moved to a smaller building in Maidstone.

At the time, commercial business director Blyth Morris said that, in view of R&SA's business plans, changes to its portfolio and the increasingly competitive market, it could not continue with its organisational structure. Seventy-five opted for voluntary redundancy.
