The Innovation Group (TIG) lost £3.8m before tax in the three months to the end of December, it announced.

The result was an improvement compared to the £8m loss before tax it made in the same period the year before.

Turnover at the IT and outsourcing operation fell to £15.8m from £27.5m in the same period the year before.

The greatest component in TIG's turnover was recurring fees, which fell to £12m in the quarter from £13.2m in the same quarter in 2001.

Over the same period initial licence fees fell sharply to £709,000 from £6.3m. The company is planning a rights issue to raise £9.2m.
