Insurance only just above banks in public’s trust league table

Edelman’s Trust Barometer says trust in business among the informed and well off has risen from 49% to 53% but insurance is third from bottom, just above banks, the FT reports.

Nobody from Edelman was available to supply IT the full report but the FT said: Trust in US banks stands at 29%, down from 36% in the 2009 survey and 69% a year earlier. "US banking was the number three most trusted industry in 2007. Now it's second lowest after insurance," Mr Edelman said.

The survey was of 4,875 people in 22 countries, aged between 25 and 64 and in the top quartile for income. 70% expected to see a return to business as usual.

The 2025 Insurance Times Awards took place on the evening of Wednesday 3rd December in the iconic Great Room of London’s Grosvenor House.

Hosted by comedian and actor Tom Allen, 34 Gold, 23 Silver and 22 Bronze awards were handed out across an amazing 34 categories recognising brilliance and innovation right across the breadth of UK general insurance.
Many congratulations to all the worthy winners and as always, huge thanks to our sponsors for their support and our judges for their expertise.
