A number of Towergate’s London Markets employees could be made redundant after entering into a consultation, the company has confirmed.

According to sources more than 10 jobs could be at risk.

Staff were told about the consultation last week. It is likely to continue to mid-September.

A Towergate spokesman declined to say how many staff were affected, but added: “We can confirm that a number of employees within the Towergate London Markets business have entered into a period of consultation.

“This may or may not lead to a number of roles being made redundant. We will not be commenting further nor will we discuss the individual circumstances of staff involved in this process at this time.”

There are 30 to 40 staff in the London Markets team.

The London Markets broking team was moved into the underwriting arm of the business last year.
