Towergate Underwriting has acquired specialist marine insurance broker Mardons.
Mardons, based in Shrewsbury, has a marine and commercial portfolio of £7.5m GWP.
Towergate executive chairman Peter Cullum said: “Our intention has always been to develop specialist lines where we become the dominant player in that market.
"Mardons has successfully created a strong brand in small craft insurance and we are delighted it has joined the group.
"This latest acquisition strengthens our presence in the marine market and reinforces our stated aim of doubling Towergate's GWP within a two-year period.”
This latest acquisition brings the group's gross written premium to £260m.
