General insurer Towergate has extended its presence in the leisure insurance market with the acquisition of individual golfers insurance scheme Fairway.
Towergate Leisure managing director Barry Gibbs said the acquisition was in keeping with Towergate's acquisition strategy. He said this included the purchase of specialist portfolios that fitted seamlessly into existing Towergate Companies.
The acquisition, from Lloyd's broker Sterling Hamilton Wright, strengthens Towergate Leisure's position in the golf insurance market. The company already operates its "Golf Umbrella" scheme and the "Caddysure" account.
