Stolen vehicle recovery system Tracker got back almost £3m worth of cars last month, including £1.4m worth stolen using the owners' keys.
Key theft accounted for 55 vehicles stolen, 42% of Tracker's total recoveries, which was an increase of 243% from October last year.
Mercedes car and commercial vehicles accounted for £703,000 worth of October's recoveries.
BMWs accounted for another £698,000, while Audi and Porsche recoveries were worth £235,000 and £249,000.
Plant and equipment, including a set of portable traffic lights, were also recovered.
