The Chartwell name is to disappear as as the Trenwick tag is applied to all London and Paris operations.
The international operations of Trenwick Group Ltd - Trenwick International and Chartwell Managing Agents - are re-launched today and Trenwick will now be the recognised name.
This change reflects the unity of the London operations, the identity of the capital provider, and its ability to offer leadership and expertise in a focused range of business lines.
The senior management team led by chairman and chief executive Michael Watson and chief underwriting officer Jim Giordano, remains unchanged.
Watson said: "I am excited to announce that we are launching under one brand in the London marketplace. It was illogical for us to continue to operate in London under two different names, when we have a single capital provider and a number of team members who straddle both the Lloyd's and company market operations.
"I am certain that Trenwick will become better understood through the adoption of a single name for its international operations. That will benefit our customers, our employees and our shareholders alike."
