The passing of US legislation to bring relief to insured homeowners has affected insurers' and brokers' share prices.

The state-sponsored Florida Hurricane Catastrophe Fund will reportedly double in size from $16bn to $32bn as a result of a Bill passed in the US House of Representatives and Senate to make insurance more affordable.

The decision could have a negative effect on premiums.

Amlin's stock price fell by 19.25p to 304p, although the Lloyd's underwriter's stock has recovered slightly this morning to 307.5p. And Hiscox fell by 17.75p to 247.75 in yesterday's trading before firming this morning to 254p.
