Consumers are now able to buy buildings and contents cover online thanks to a new website from Hercules Property Services.
Hercules, through its two insurance subsidiaries Heritage and Deacon, currently provides cover for around £10bn worth of property and also has around 10% of the UK buildings insurance market for blocks of flats.
The website, heritage_insurance.co.uk, has links to 14 other sites and associations including underoneroof.co.uk, fish4homes.co.uk and easier.co.uk.
Hercules chairman Larry Lipman claims the site will save customers up to 25%, irrespective of the insured property's value.
Lipman said: "The launch is a natural development of our fast-expanding insurance division from commercial property into the domestic market where our latest acquisition, Deacon Insurance Services, has been very active over the past few years."
All the policies are underwritten by Lombard.
