Wetherby District Social Club wins a year's free club insurance after coming first in the 2003 Safest Club Award arranged by Marsh.
Wetherby District Social Club is the winner of a year's free club insurance after coming first in the 2003 Safest Club Award, arranged by Marsh, the risk management and insurance services firm.
Wetherby beat off strong competition to win the award, which judged clubs on their loss prevention activities relating to health and safety, fire prevention, food and kitchen safety, security and employment standards.
Wetherby's win is particularly poignant, coming after a disastrous fire that completely destroyed the premises two years ago. The social club was able to implement an effective disaster recovery plan, which saw the club reopen within twelve months.
Club secretary Cathy Bennett said: "We are delighted to have won this award as it is a reflection of the value we place in the efficient running of our club and the safety of our staff and members. We were devastated at the loss of our club following the fire but, with the assistance of Marsh and its risk management advice, we were back in business in the shortest possible time."
