Insurers allege £3.3m payout victim is walks and drives too

Insurers told the Court of Appeal that wheelchair user Mark Noble, 42, of Ferndown, Dorset, had been filmed walking, lifting weights and driving machinery, the Guardian reports.

The builder was awarded £3.3m when forced to use a wheelchair after a 2003 road accident in which he suffered multiple broken bones. Most of his award was for specialised accommodation and loss of earnings.

The appeal judges granted permission to appeal but urged the parties to try mediation, saying the insurers would otherwise have to prove fraud at a separate hearing.
