The Willis Group is to acquire Ital Re SpA, a major Italian reinsurance broker based in Milan and Rome.
The terms of the acquisition have not been disclosed.
Joe Plumeri, chairman and chief executive of Willis, said the acquisition reflected Willis' strategy for expansion in geographical areas where it saw opportunities for growth.
