Accident and risk management specialist, Willis Motor Initiatives, has launched a drive to encourage businesses to improve their fleet management programmes.
New research by the Health & Safety Executive suggests that the true costs of "at work" road accidents are considerably higher than the actual insurance costs.
With this in mind, Willis is set to launch a campaign to educate fleet managers to minimise the number of accidents caused by company vehicle drivers.
Nick Williams Sales and Marketing Director of Willis Motor Initiatives said: "Accident rates for fleet vehicle drivers are estimated to be 30-40 per cent higher than for private users.
"Therefore, it is vital to develop and maintain a good safety record. Companies need to adopt an active approach to managing their fleet.
"The key to an effective fleet management programme is to encourage a culture of best practice from the directors, through to the rest of the staff."
