WTC trial judge Michael Mukasey has been asked to excuse a member of the jury as it entered the sixth day of its deliberations.
According to reports, Judge Mukasey did not detail the reason the female juror asked to be excused but said there was a problem within the jury, and speculated it had been caused by disagreements among the jurors.
The judge discussed with both prosecution and defense lawyers what the appropriate course of action would be if the juror sent a formal note asking to be excused. The options include accepting a majority verdict or dismissing the juror.
A male juror was previously excused from the trial after it dragged on past the date which he had previously stated he needed to return to his business by.
