XL adds two underwriters to London FI team

XL Insurance, the global insurance division of XL Capital, has hired two underwriters to its financial institutions team in London, bringing the total team to seven.

Emma Knowles has joined XL from Liberty International, where she was a senior underwriter for financial institutions. Eve Cohen joins from Munich Re, having previously worked as a professional lines underwriter for AIG in London and Dublin.

XL Insurance’s financial institutions division, established in January this year, provides professional liability coverage for hedge funds, asset managers, private equity firms, insurance companies and banks.

"Since our launch in January we have had tremendous interest from brokers and clients throughout Europe. We continue to see growing demand by financial institutions for this specialist cover, especially in this changing economic climate,” said Gerard Bloom, chief underwriting officer, financial institutions, XL Insurance, in a statement. “Emma and Eve are two very experienced underwriters, further enhancing our technical and underwriting capabilities as well as our service to clients and brokers.”
