Insurer Zurich Financial Services has launched an internet bank called zurichbank.co.uk, with the aim of attracting more than 300,000 customers in the nest five years.

The Financial Times reported that ZFS had spent £90m on the venture, which plans to target the savings and current account markets.

It is offering a guaranteed current account interest rate of half a percentage point below the bank of England base rate - currently 4%.

It also plans to offer mortgages and will cross-sell ZFS insurance products to customers.

The bank is based in Cheltenham and already has 1,300 customers, mostly ZFS employees.

The 2025 Insurance Times Awards took place on the evening of Wednesday 3rd December in the iconic Great Room of London’s Grosvenor House.

Hosted by comedian and actor Tom Allen, 34 Gold, 23 Silver and 22 Bronze awards were handed out across an amazing 34 categories recognising brilliance and innovation right across the breadth of UK general insurance.
Many congratulations to all the worthy winners and as always, huge thanks to our sponsors for their support and our judges for their expertise.
