The chief executive of Zurich Financial Services, James Schiro, has said that the insurance sector will undoubtedly face consolidation in the future, but declined to predict when the group might be ready to make an acquisition.
According to reports, Schiro stressed the importance of improving efficiency, saying that only once the group runs its own businesses efficiently, will it be in a position to take over other firms.
Schiro added that he would like to double the group's size in coming years but he said it would only happen if profitability is right, warning that premium growth alone is worth nothing.
