Bluefin says it will push on with MGA growth plans regardless

Stuart Reid, Bluefin

Stuart Reid has vowed to forge ahead with plans to ramp up Bluefin’s MGA activities after its bid to poach MGA Fusion Insurance managing director Nick Wright and underwriting director Stewart Gardiner ended unsuccessfully.

As Insurance Times reported, Bluefin had attempted to recruit the duo to grow its MGA division.

“We’re extremely disappointed not to take on Nick and Stewart but they are two quality lads in the insurance world and when you try to recruit people of their quality it is obvious that their existing employers will attempt to retain them. We will kiss many frogs but only a few turn into princes,” Reid (pictured) said.

“We wish them well but this doesn’t take us off track for our commitment to develop a significant and heightened MGA at Bluefin and we will be searching the market both internally and externally to kick this off this year.

“We feel it’s an exciting project which could significantly benefit the business and our network.  There are plenty more fish (or frogs) in this sea and we’ll go after them.”

A spokeswoman for Towergate, which owns Fusion, confirmed that Gardiner and Wright continue to work at the company.
