Auto Legal Protection Services (ALPS) has moved the underwriting of its motor legal expenses business to Arc Legal Assistance from existing MGAs Legal Insurance Management and UK General.

ALPS will continue to work with Legal Insurance Management and UK General on its other products.

ALPS made the change because it allows it to provide brokers with enhanced cover for the same rates. The new coverage through Arc Legal offers cover for motor consumer disputes, for example.

The company said it would also be working with Arc Legal to look at bespoke scheme arrangements for its brokers and could add new schemes to its current offering.

Arc Legal’s capacity is ultimately provided by Inter Partner Assistance, part of the AXA group.

ALPS managing director Lee Riley said: “We are pleased to be working with Arc Legal as it has a reputation in the market for being a service-led organisation with values that mirror our own as we strive to offer high value products to brokers, enabling them to be more competitive.

“We periodically review our underwriting facilities and in this case we decided that Arc Legal could offer us enhanced cover and access to a wider base of underwriting services, which would benefit our brokers both now and in the future.”
