West Berkshire District Council has appointed the Loss Recovery Group (LRG) as advisers, because traditional insurance products are “expensive and inadequate”.
The council will be aided by LRG's panel of loss adjusters when it undertakes complex or high-value claims preparation and negotiation. The panel's cover will be indemnified by loss recovery insurance, provided through Jardine Lloyd Thompson Municipal Risks.
The council's head of risk management, Graham Trapnell, said traditional products could only play a small part in protecting councils against the risks they faced, and couldn't deliver the best value for rate payers.
