Zurich is looking to boost its online sales by offering brokers discounts on premiums on selected lines if policies are bought through its website.
Commercial car insurance will be offered at a 5% discount and goods carrying vehicle policies will be discounted by 2.5%.
The policies are aimed at companies with up to four vehicles and instant cover can also be arranged for new
policyholders with online cover notes.
Paul Hodgson, solutions assembly manager at Zurich UK Commercial, said: “There is a fast-growing demand from brokers to purchase insurance in this way. This channel has lower costs than others, which should be reflected in cheaper premiums.”
Hodgson said Zurich had sold an “impressive” number of motor products through the site in the first three weeks and its user base among brokers was growing steadily.
Zurich currently has 56,000 vehicles insured for the carrying of goods and 25,000 individual vehicles insured in the name of companies.
