Hung parliament despite Conservatives winning most seats

The 2010 general election has delivered a hung Parliament.

With the results in 649 out of 650 constituencies declared, so far the Conservatives have won 306 seats, making it mathematically impossible for David Cameron’s party to secure a majority in the House of Commons. For a Commons majority, any party would require 326 seats.

With just one seat to declare, the Conservatives are currently up 97 on a 36.1% share of the vote.

Labour are down 91 seats on 258, winning 29% vote share.

The Liberal Democrats are currently on 57, having barely increased their share of the vote to 23%.
