Gocompare’s opera singer was most irritating ad of 2009

Marketing Magazine has said Gocompare’s Italian opera singer was 2009’s most irritating advertisement, the Mail reports.

The top 20, compiled by Marketing magazine, also features singer Iggy Pop selling insurance for Swiftcover. The Telegraph ad Consfused.com and Churchill adds in the top ten most irritating ads of 2009.

But Marketing’s research also found that Confused.com’s ad with people commenting on the ease of use on its new website scored the highest recall at 78% in a single week. Churchill, with 76% and Comparethemarket.com, with 74% took second an third place in most remembered ads.

The 2025 Insurance Times Awards took place on the evening of Wednesday 3rd December in the iconic Great Room of London’s Grosvenor House.
