Former HBOS partnership managing director to start in January

The BGL Group has appointed Peter Thompson as managing director of its affinity outsourcing business, Junction. He will join in January 2008.

Matthew Donaldson, group director, BGL Group, commented: "Junction has played a significant role in the BGL Group’s success over the last few years and we were looking for a candidate of the highest calibre.

"Peter Thompson is a highly motivated professional and has a proven track record of delivering results in a number of challenging roles. I have no doubt he will prove to be a strong leader well equipped to realise the ambition that we have for Junction."

Peter joined HBOS in 2003 as head of commercial Insurance and became managing director of partnerships in 2005, responsible for the growth of multi-product joint ventures and all intermediated insurance distribution through a range of partners and clients.

Prior to that he was with Royal & SunAlliance where he was responsible for non motor personal lines corporate partnerships.

Thompson added: "I am delighted to be taking Junction into its next phase. It has a phenomenally strong infrastructure and benefits from being part of the wider BGL Group which is going from strength to strength. Judging by our pipeline, the role promises to be extremely exciting.”

Junction aims to reach £1bn GWP and three million policies by 2010.

The 2025 Insurance Times Awards took place on the evening of Wednesday 3rd December in the iconic Great Room of London’s Grosvenor House.
