Company names Alistair Marriott cargo class underwriter and deputy head of marine

Alistair Marriott Marketform

Marketform has hired former QBE underwriter Alistair Marriott (pictured) as deputy head of marine and cargo class underwriter.

Marriott joins the Lloyd’s insurer after 12 years at QBE as cargo portfolio manager.

In his new role Marriott will join marine director Stephen Barr and joint deputy marine head and hull and war class underwriter Angus Wilson in Marketform’s marine division.

Marketform chief executive John O’Neill said: “Marine market conditions remain challenging across all the classes, but we are confident in Alistair’s ability to develop an account which is sustainable and which will allow us to grow profitably as opportunities present themselves.”

Barr said: “The addition of Alistair to write cargo opens up the opportunity to underwrite stock throughput as well as conventional cargo on a world-wide basis. With the backing of brokers, the reinsurance market and our parent Great American Insurance Group, we will pursue a more robust cargo underwriting strategy which will complement our other lines.”

Marketform operates Syndicate 2468 at Lloyd’s and is ultimately owned by American Financial Group.
