For example, MGA incubation business Mission Underwriters is hosting a swanky dinner for its attending MGAs and industry connections at Tattu Manchester – an Asian restaurant situated in the city’s Spinningfields district.

Meanwhile, CFC Underwriting has booked local Drake and Morgan bar The Anthologist, in St Peter’s Square, to welcome market peers to Manchester with drinks and canapes.

Undoubtedly, the first full day at Manchester Central is the Biba Conference’s busiest – jam packed with thought provoking sessions and a buzzing exhibition hall. Many UK general insurance staffers will be seeking more casual networking opportunities come evening time, ready to unwind after back-to-back meetings and mingling.

One stylish venue on brokers’ hitlist is New York inspired cocktail bar Manahatta Deansgate, where Markerstudy will be pitching its tent. Street food fans, meanwhile, will love Markel UK’s occupation of Society – with brokers able to snaffle snacks from five different, independent kitchens.

Five star hotel The Edwardian Manchester – situated a stone’s throw from Manchester Central – is playing host to a number of insurers in the same evening. Intact Insurance has hired the modern hotel for its early evening shindig, while personal lines specialist Ageas UK has taken its usual Halle Suite to provide a sit down, three course dinner for those that want a slower pace.

Music lovers, on the other hand, will have Aviva Studios firmly on their radar. Although the insurer’s eponymous theatre is a little further afield than the typical conference commute radius, attendees will be able to enjoy a performance from 70s and 80s pop group Madness.

Favourite freebies?

Insurance Times polled its LinkedIn audience ahead of the Biba Conference 2026 (13 and 14 May) to see which classic exhibition stand freebies are the most popular among attending brokers. At the time of writing, based on 37 votes, stationery was the clear winner – selected by 38% of respondents.

Joint second place was clothing – such as socks and hats – and snacks or food, with both options being chosen by 22% of respondents. Lingering in last place with 19% of the vote was drinks bottles and mugs.
