The appointee has joined from rival broking group Tysers
Aventum-owned (re)insurance broker Consilium has raided rival broking group Tysers for its new chief operating officer (COO).

The group has appointed Suzanna Bazire, former divisional operations director of retail at Tysers, as its new COO, according to an announcement released today (5 December 2022).
Bazire has been tasked with standardising processes across Consilium’s divisions to “ensure a robust infrastructure is in place that is scalable and primed for significant planned growth”.
Bazire began her 20-year insurance career as a wholesale account handler in aviation and marine at Tysers before moving to Marsh McLennan, where she specialised in the Latin American aviation market for nearly five years.
She followed this with nearly five years at Tysers, which was formerly known as Integro, specialising in operations for contingency and retail business.
Her appointment is the third new senior leadership announcement at Consilium – the specialist broker services and reinsurance division of Aventum Group – in as many months.
Investing heavily
James Baird, chief executive and managing partner at Consilium, joined the business two months ago in November.
He said: “It has been just 18 months since the Aventum Group and its global specialty MGA and broking brand was launched – since then, we’ve been investing heavily in Consilium with exciting plans ahead globally for our broking business.”

Baird added that Consilium had attracted “leading talent” to the business and that Bazire’s appointment represented a continuation of this trend.
Consilium also established a dedicated in-house claims team earlier this month.
“Consilium’s global operations are now of such a scale and size that warrants a dedicated COO,” Baird explained.
“2023 will be nothing short of transformational as we establish ourselves in new territories and product lines around the world and Suzanne’s role will be central in allowing us to scale whilst maintaining high quality control.”
Bazire added: “I was immediately struck by the infectious entrepreneurial positive attitude at Consilium.
“It’s not hard to see why I was attracted to join [Consilium]. In real terms [the business is] at the start of what promises to be a thrilling journey. I’m excited to be a part of that and use my experience to help shape its development.”
Hosted by comedian and actor Tom Allen, 34 Gold, 23 Silver and 22 Bronze awards were handed out across an amazing 34 categories recognising brilliance and innovation right across the breadth of UK general insurance.
