’His extensive knowledge of insurance and reinsurance will provide a great foundation to lead the company through its next phase,’ says chairman

Covéa Insurance UK has appointed Philippe Domart as its new chief executive.

Domart will succeed Xaiver Laurent, who had been appointed to replace Georges De Macedo in September 2025.

A Covéa spokesperson told Insurance Times that ”Laurent moved on late last year”. Specific details around his departure are not known.

Domart is set to take up the role on 1 April 2026.

Experience

Domart has more than 20 years’ experience across global insurance and reinsurance markets.

He has held senior roles at Partner Re and more recently within the commercial business unit at MMA in France.

His latest move, which is subject to regulatory approval, will see Domart relocate to the UK to be closer to Covéa UK’s teams and partners.

De Macedo, meanwhile, will remain within the group and continue supporting Covéa UK as a board member, providing strategic oversight for the UK businesses. He is stepping down to return to his native France.

Chris Moat, chairman, said: ”I would like to welcome Domart to Covéa UK. His extensive knowledge of insurance and reinsurance will provide a great foundation to lead the company through its next phase.”

“On behalf of the board I’d like to thank De Macedo for his major contribution to Covéa Insurance over the last couple of years. His ongoing involvement in the Covéa UK board will provide both insight and continuity into the future.”

The 2025 Insurance Times Awards took place on the evening of Wednesday 3rd December in the iconic Great Room of London’s Grosvenor House.
