’I look forward to contributing to a leading insurer’s expansion in the international arena,’ says appointee

HDI Global has appointed Phil McDowell as its new global sales and distribution lead for international programmes and captives.

In his new role, McDowell will focus on strengthening HDI Global’s relationships with global brokers and work closely with the firm’s local sales and distribution teams to launch new marketing campaigns targeting global and regional broker partners.

He will also focus on strengthening service performance and ensuring the delivery of “unparalleled service, compliance and protection” to clients, especially those managing cross-border risks.

He said: “I am delighted to be joining HDI – a business I’ve long admired for its clear ambition and strong client focus.

“International programmes and captives represent key growth areas for the group and I look forward to contributing to a leading insurer’s expansion in the international arena, working closely with HDI’s talented teams worldwide.”

Experience

McDowell joins from RSA, where he was most recently global network strategic relationship manager.

He joined the firm after spending eight years at Allianz, where he held roles such as property and casualty underwriter and international business co-ordinator.

Melanie Windirsch, head of international programmes at HDI Global, said McDowell’s appointment was part of the company’s drive to provide compliant and consistent international insurance coverage for corporate clients.

She said: “We are excited to welcome McDowell to our team. His expertise and approach are vital as we continue to expand our reach in multinational insurance.

“Our vision to act as a reliable partner in transformation to our clients and broker partners hinges on innovative leadership and we are confident his contributions will further solidify HDI Global’s position as a leader in international programmes and captives.”
