’I am leaving Intact but not gone from the counter fraud world,’ says departing boss

Adele Sumner, Intact Insurance UK’s director of counter fraud and financial crime, has announced that she will be departing the insurer after 27 years.

In a post on LinkedIn yesterday (1 June 2026) Sumner said she would leave the business at the end of June.

She joined the firm in 1998 – when it was known as RSA – as fraud intelligence manager.

After eight years, she was promoted into the role of head of fraud intelligence and strategic development. She took on her latest role in October 2025.

Sumner said: “Over my 27 years, I have met the most wonderful people and had an amazing career at Intact Insurance UK. I have had so many opportunities to innovate and deliver new fraud technologies, rewrite the investigation play book and deliver projects that have made a real financial difference to the bottom line.

”I even moved south. I have been supported by dynamic and challenging leaders, driven to deliver and my team and I have been valued. I leave behind me a strong and talented counter fraud team at Intact Insurance UK. What can I say to my industry colleagues, the best professional company to spend time with, the most passionate individual contributors, bold and dynamic leaders who work tirelessly to prevent and detect insurance fraud.

“As a counter fraud community, you have given me unwavering support over the years, we have collectively come up with numerous innovative ideas to detect insurance fraud to protect our customers and long may that community, commitment and dedication continue.”

‘Inbox is open’

It is not clear what Sumner’s next role will be, although she hinted that she would continue working in the counter fraud space.

She added: ”I am leaving Intact but not gone from the counter fraud world. I have a picture on my desk it reads ’do not go where the path may lead, go instead where there is no path and leave a trail’.

”All the very best to those at Intact Insurance UK and of course the counter fraud unit, I wish you every success. To the rest of my market colleagues, my inbox is open and so is my calendar.”
