’It adds real depth to our tech, media, cyber and life sciences division and strengthens the proposition we can take to clients right across the group,’ says broking chief executive

Jensten Group has agreed to acquire Venture Risks Group (VRG), a specialist technology-focused corporate broker, as it looks to expand its presence in the technology and life sciences sectors.

The transaction, which is expected to complete in October 2026, will further strengthen Jensten Group’s technology, media, cyber and life sciences division and enhance its specialist capabilities across professional indemnity, cyber and technology-related risks.

The acquisition also extends Jensten Group’s footprint into Cambridge, adding to its existing presence in London, Bristol, the Thames Valley and Birmingham. It said the move provides coverage across the UK’s principal technology and life sciences corridors.

Gareth Birch, chief executive of broking at Jensten Group, said: “Specialty is a core part of our growth plan and VRG is exactly the kind of business we want to partner with. Technically strong, entrepreneurial and built on long-standing client relationships.

”It adds real depth to our tech, media, cyber and life sciences division and strengthens the proposition we can take to clients right across the group.”

Specialist growth

Jensten Group said the deal aligns closely with its strategy of investing in specialist businesses that complement its existing operations and strengthen sector expertise.

The broker has continued to build specialist capabilities across a range of commercial insurance sectors, with technology and cyber risks remaining key areas of focus as demand for specialist advice grows.

Following completion of the transaction, VRG will continue to trade under its existing brand.

John McLaren-Stewart, chief executive at VRG, said: “Joining Jensten Group is an exciting next step for our business. We have built VRG around specialist knowledge, strong client relationships and a commitment to excellent service.

”Becoming part of Jensten Group provides a fantastic platform for future growth while ensuring our clients continue to receive the expertise and support they value, from the same team they deal with today.”
