‘His appointment represents a pivotal moment for Liberty as we expand on our existing, market-leading FAS offering in the UK,’ says senior underwriter
Liberty Specialty Markets has entered the UK high net worth (HNW) market and hired Benjamin Faerestrand to spearhead the launch.
Faerestrand takes up the role of household underwriter and has been tasked with growing a differentiated proposition through the Lloyd’s market, delivered across open market and delegated authority channels.
He will define and execute the HNW business plan, which includes product development, broker relationship management and new business growth.
He will also work closely with Liberty’s fine art and specie teams in both Europe and the US to support clients with cross-border HNW needs.
Experience
Faerestrand has nearly 15 years of industry experience and most recently worked at Chubb as strategic account and team manager.

Before that, he spent eight years as an art and private client development underwriter.
In his new role, he will report to James Garthwaite, senior underwriter for fine art and specie at Liberty, and be based in London.
Garthwaite said Faerestrand’s arrival marked “a pivotal moment” as the business seeks to build a “compelling alternative for clients” in the HNW space.
He continued: “Faerestrand’s market knowledge and experience provide a strong foundation for building a compelling alternative for clients.”
