’Aviation is a dynamic sector facing complex challenges, from supply chain disruptions and evolving safety regulations to emerging risks in sustainability and digital transformation,’ says new appointee

Privately-owned global broker Lockton has appointed former Marsh chief executive for aviation Mark Costin as its new head of aviation for the UK.

Costin will be based in London when he enters the role in March 2025 and brings over 30 years of experience in the sector to the firm.

He has previously held leadership aviation-focused roles at competitor broker Willis and was chief executive for aviation at Marsh between 2018 and 2020, having joined the firm as managing director in 2006.

Costin also worked at Piiq Insurance Brokers, which also operates in the aviation space, and has been employed as commercial director at exposure monitoring insurtech Insurwave since joining in 2023, which he will leave this position for his new role.

A Lockton statement explained that he would also become instrumental in “spearheading a series of strategic hires to further strengthen client support and market impact”.

Complex challenges

Commenting on the move, Costin said: “Aviation is a dynamic sector facing complex challenges, from supply chain disruptions and evolving safety regulations to emerging risks in sustainability and digital transformation.

“Lockton’s client-first approach and independence create a unique platform to provide tailored, forward-thinking solutions for aviation businesses.”
