’We look forward to engaging with clients and their advisors over the coming months,’ says head
MGA Avid Insurance has expanded its presence in the leasehold market after securing a new capacity deal with MS Amlin.
The deal will see Avid provide public sector policy options to local authorities needing to purchase cover.
Councils purchase leasehold insurance when the responsibility to insure remains with the local authority as freeholder of the buildings.
Lee Longley, head of commercial at Avid, said: “Avid entering the market with MS Amlin is good news for councils, who’ve had to respond to large rating increases since 2021-22.
“Looking ahead, we look forward to engaging with clients and their advisors over the coming months to see if Avid can assist with their insurance requirements for the remainder of the year, into 2026 and beyond.”
Additional choice
Avid said its new partnership with MS Amlin comes following local authorities seeing several years of limited choice.

Darren White, lead underwriter of P&C UK at MS Amlin, added: “The past three years have been very challenging for local authorities and their leaseholders and we are delighted to be partnering with Avid in this sector.
“Avid’s knowledge and expertise in this market is well established and we look forward to providing additional choice to local authorities”
