‘Its strong technical expertise in construction and engineering, combined with a global outlook, is completely aligned with our values,’ says group deputy chief executive

Specialist Risk Group (SRG) has agreed to acquire London-based City Quarter Brokers.

City Quarter focuses on complex and technical risks in the construction, engineering and infrastructure sectors.

Once the transaction is complete, City Quarter will join SRG’s wholesale division, which includes specialist brands Miles Smith, CBC Partnership, SRI and TUE.

SRG said the acquisition would bolster its capacity to deliver placements for complex risks and advance its strategy of becoming a home for niche insurance businesses across the value chain.

Lee Anderson, group deputy chief executive at SRG, said: “We are thrilled to welcome City Quarter to SRG. Its strong technical expertise in construction and engineering, combined with a global outlook and a dedication to broker service, is completely aligned with our values.

“As we continue to build out our wholesale platform, City Quarter represents the kind of deep specialism that makes a real difference to brokers and clients navigating complex risk.”

‘Specialist ethos’

The acquisition follows a series of deals in recent years by SRG in an effort to strengthen its presence in specialist wholesale markets.

Rob Walton, chief executive at City Quarter, said joining SRG would allow the firm to extend its reach while maintaining its specialist ethos.

He said: “We have built a strong reputation for delivering tailored propositions on technically challenging risks and SRG’s platform will enable us to expand our reach while staying true to our specialist ethos. Together, we look forward to unlocking opportunities while preserving the qualities our clients value most.”
