’I’m looking forward to working with brokers and clients to build on the strong platform already in place,’ says new head of energy
Tokio Marine Kiln (TMK) has appointed Oliver Wilcox as head of energy as the specialist insurer continues to expand its energy proposition.

Wilcox joins the insurer’s marine and energy division with more than 15 years of underwriting experience across the upstream, midstream, downstream and renewable energy sectors.
He will lead TMK’s energy underwriting business, overseeing underwriting strategy, portfolio performance and team development, while working closely with brokers and clients across the sector.
Wilcox said the energy market was “changing quickly”, creating both challenges and opportunities throughout the value chain.
He added that TMK’s global presence, financial strength, underwriting expertise and collaborative culture were key factors in his decision to join the business.
“I’m looking forward to working with brokers and clients to build on the strong platform already in place,” he said.
Energy transition
Vivek Syal, chief underwriting officer at TMK, said energy remained a “strategically important class” as clients navigate the energy transition, emerging technologies and increasingly complex risks.

Wilcox will report to Alex Barnes, departmental head of marine and energy.
Barnes said: ”Wilcox brings extensive underwriting expertise, a highly regarded market reputation and a proven track record of underwriting performance.
“His appointment reinforces our commitment to delivering specialist underwriting solutions to the energy sector and demonstrates our priority to offer exceptional service to all our clients and brokers.”
