The moves form a ‘major part’ of the insurer’s global strategy

Zurich has appointed Drazen Jaksic as its new UK chief executive.

Jaksic succeeds Tim Bailey, who will become chief executive of the insurer’s life protection arm.

Zurich described the moves as a “major part” of its global strategy.

Jaksic joined the insurer in 2019 as the global head of accident and health in the commercial business.

He was promoted to the role of chief executive at Zurich Benelux at the start of 2024.

Zurich felt he had the “extensive experience” needed to meet the requirements of brokers, customers and regulators.

Jaksic said: “This is a fantastic opportunity for me to continue to advance our position in the UK market.

“I can’t wait to get started, it’s clearly a very talented leadership team and a strong business unit. I see huge opportunities for us in the market and I feel privileged to play a role in driving our future success.”

Bailey move

Bailey has served as the chief executive at Zurich UK since 2021.

In his new role, he will report to Cara Morton, chief executive at Zurich Global Ventures.

Bailey said: “Life insurance has played a pivotal role in my career.

“The opportunity to build and lead a new global business and establish Zurich as a world leader in this space is exciting.

“Over the last four years, Zurich UK has grown significantly and strengthened its market position.

“I have been fortunate to lead an outstanding team, which I’m leaving in Jaksic’s excellent hands. He has everything the business needs to continue to drive it forward.”
