Norwich Union (NU) has withdrawn from insuring horses with immediate effect, as part of its ongoing review of business.
The insurer mainly underwrites business through eight large schemes offering leisure and domestic cover for up to £5,000. It has about 27,000 policies.
An NU spokesperson said the move would not result in redundancies.
